Safety is an integral core value for us — a commitment we uphold to ensure our staff return home safe to their families at the end of each working day.
Recently, we held a rigorous Working at Height Safety training day with all UK site staff, which included a very special keynote speaker, Jason Anker MBE.
Jason Anker MBE’s presentation on the day was truly inspiring and a deeply personal one. At 24 years old, a completely avoidable workplace accident left him paralysed from the waist down in 1993. But Jason didn’t let tragedy define him. Instead, he turned his story into a mission.
For over 15 years, he has been an international safety speaker, sharing his journey to prevent similar accidents and inspiring people across industries.
His message was clear: every decision we make on-site matters because getting home safe is the most important part of the job.
The feedback we received from the event was overwhelmingly positive. Neil Smith commented, “Listening to J. Anker was definitely an eye opener.”
Daniel Iancu mentioned, “It was a good meeting, a reminder about being aware of the risks on site and how to work safely is always helpful.”
Warren Dellow shared his key takeaway from the day “stop, pause and think about what your plan of action is, the most basic task can be so life changing.”
Our CEO, Alan Hanamy, echoed this sentiment, stating:
"Safety is not just about compliance—it’s about good planning, staying attentive and looking out for one another. Jason’s story is a testament to why we must remain vigilant, proactive, and committed to protecting our people every single day."
Thank you to Jason Anker MBE for his impactful talk, reminding us of all the importance of working at height safety.
