KTL and ESB Networks Joint Safety Audits

Last week, senior teams from KTL and ESB Networks completed a series of joint safety audits across Kildare, Laois, and Carlow, engaging directly with crews and reviewing works on site.

The team met crews, walked live work sites, and had real conversations about safety, workmanship, and planning—while recognising and appreciating the overseas resources supporting delivery on site.

These visits brought together operational, safety, and executive leaders from both organisations—reinforcing a shared commitment to partnership and strong safety performance.

Across all locations, the work underway was complex: erecting poles, removing infrastructure, installing transformers, and coordinating multiple crews and subcontractors.

With many sites located in public areas, the importance of protecting both workers and the public was a key focus.

Alan Hanamy, CEO of KTL, said:

“It was great for Zara Moore, Bernard DowneyCiaran M., and I to accompany John Fitzgerald and Virgil Porter on these joint safety audits. Thanks to all for taking the time.

ESB Networks consistently and visibly drive safety standards, and part of that involves their senior managers engaging directly with field staff on these audits.

Thanks especially to the crews, who were safely upgrading the LV networks in winter conditions.”
