Eithne Friel, KTL Board Member
I first met the company’s founder, Tony Killarney, in January 2003 and quickly developed a longstanding business relationship with him and the team in KTL. He always had a clear vision of developing KTL into a successful business. Tony, together with the support of his co-directors Alan Hanamy, Peter Dwyer and Ciaran Murphy, and in later years Danny Byrne and Sara Byrne, has grown the company from strength to strength, despite many challenges along the journey.
This was never more evident than when the COVID-19 pandemic stopped businesses in their tracks in March 2020. Despite the challenges and the sudden stoppage in work while its customers and the staff responded to the ever-changing environment, KTL and its directors focused on supporting their staff as a priority during this difficult time. KTL has always focused on providing a flexible, rewarding and a “people focused” working environment and in my view, this is a key ingredient to the success of the company and the business today. KTL offers many additional benefits and support to its employees, which shows its commitment to each person and their family.
Over the years, there were many other challenges as KTL touched its toe into operating in other regions in Europe and South America. However, it quickly became evident that trading in an environment where you know your customer and their requirements yielded a better outcome. KTL anchored its ship with a strong business presence in Ireland and the UK.
Today, KTL and its related business interests employs and engages the support of in excess of 500 people providing services to leading companies in the telecom and power industry.
The strength and growth of this Irish indigenous company is a testament to the key relationships it forged with its clients and a mission to “being the best and doing our best that our clients keep coming back again and again.” This commitment to providing an excellent service was recognised by KTL winning many awards over the years including a Platinum winner of the Deloitte Best Company award for 13 consecutive years.
It has been a real pleasure working with KTL and the Board with the company identifying good business opportunities, yet always keeping a strong focus on how to manage risk to deliver the service “on time” to the client and ensuring each staff member and business partner is appreciated and valued.
I would like to wish KTL and everyone working in KTL a heartfelt congratulations on 25 years in business, a fantastic achievement and I look forward to working with you for many more years to come.
