Ajmal Mirza is proudly celebrating Pakistan Independence Day on the 14th August
This occasion marks the 76th anniversary of the independence of Pakistan, which is a national holiday.[1] The Indian Independence Bill 1947 formally established both India and Pakistan into sovereign nation-states out of the former Mughal Empire, which came into force on the midnight of August 15, 1947.[2] This agreement ended 200 years of British rule in the subcontinent. This resulted in one of the largest migrations in human history, when masses moved towards the East and West regions of the partitioned nation-states.[3]
Choudhry Rahmat Ali, an activist in the Pakistan Movement, coined the name ‘Pakistan’ in 1933. Khewra Mines, the second largest salt mines in the world, are located in Pakistan. Pakistan, serving as the only Muslim nuclear power country in the world, also has the fourth largest irrigation system in the world. Pakistan is home to a rich and varied flora and fauna. 10 of 18 mammalian orders are represented in Pakistan, with species ranging from the world’s small surviving mammals, the Mediterranean Pigmy Shrew, to the largest mammal ever known, the blue whale.[4] Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani native, is the youngest ever Nobel Laureate.
Independence Day is celebrated throughout Pakistan, with the main ceremony held in the capital city of Islamabad. The Prime Minister and the President of Pakistan partake in televised and widely circulated speeches where the national flag is hoisted at the Parliament and the Presidency buildings. Schools and universities arrange declamation contests, art exhibitions, national anthem recitals and sporting events to celebrate the event. There are also poetry competitions, cricket matches and military parades to commemorate the occasion.[5]
Ajmal provided insight into his experience at KTL, saying that the culture at the company is “collaborative, innovative and promotes ideas and suggestions.” Mr. Mirza said that KTL emphasises continuous professional development for all employees at the company.
Mr. Mirza said that he will decorate his home with green and white, alongside hoisting the national flag on top of his roof. “I have bought small flags and badges for my son and his friends. After lunch, the family and the kids have planned to take a ride around the city and sing patriotic songs in the car. After dinner I am planning to sit with the children and watch short patriotic movies or dramas.”
