#KTL mental health and wellbeing with Claire Scally.

“The term mental health includes how you are feeling emotionally, psychologically, and socially.

Mental health like physical health needs to be cared for on a regular basis. By maintaining your mental health and well-being you will be equipped much better to deal with life’s challenges,” says Claire.

“Mental Illness is different from mental health as it is a disorder or an illness that someone is suffering from i.e., depression, anxiety, OCD etc. You may not know that a friend or colleague has a mental illness as they may feel uncomfortable discussing it. Unfortunately, there is still a major stigma about mental health in society.”

“If you feel that you are having issues with your mental health, it is important that you seek support early.”

“If a colleague comes and talks to you about their mental health struggle; listen to them with empathy and kindness.”

KTL’s mental health first aiders are David Bromley-Walsh and Claire Scally, please contact them if you have any issues or concerns.

Also, KTL employees have 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Program – a free, confidential counselling service where includes health advice for employees and their families.

“Looking after your mental health should be part of your daily routine, starting with a healthy balanced diet, daily exercise, time out, spending time with friends and family, doing something you enjoy alongside getting sufficient sleep.”
