Organised by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), this global initiative invites individuals, communities, and businesses to switch off non-essential lights from 8:30pm–9:30pm.

Earth Hour symbolises a collective commitment to protecting our planet and raising awareness of urgent environmental challenges. By the end of this decade, we have the opportunity to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, support the recovery of nature and wildlife, and help vital habitats begin to thrive again.

Each year during Earth Hour, prominent landmarks across the UK and Ireland switch off their lights to mark the event, including Áras an Uachtaráin in Dublin, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Westminster, the Liver Building in Liverpool, and Edinburgh Castle.
