Today, millions of people around the world celebrate Ireland’s rich heritage, culture, music, traditions and strong sense of community.


In Dublin, the world-famous National St. Patrick’s Day Parade brings together spectacular pageantry, marching bands from around the world, and community groups from every corner of Ireland. This year, the festival is also aiming to be its greenest and most sustainable yet.


Three fun facts about Ireland:

  1. More Irish people live outside Ireland than in Ireland. While Ireland’s population is around 5.4 million, the global Irish diaspora is estimated at 70-80 million.

  2. The White House was designed by Irish architect James Hoban, Callan, Co. Kilkenny.

  3. Hook Lighthouse in Co. Wexford is believed to be the world’s oldest operational lighthouse, standing tall for over 800 years.
