Storm Eowyn was the country’s most powerful storm in 80 years. It struck in the early hours of January 24, 2025 accompanied by record-breaking winds of up to 184 km/h, widespread power outages, and significant infrastructural damage.
For the huge efforts of KTL staff involved, ESB Networks has awarded commemorative medals to recognise the tireless work to restore power to hundreds of thousands of homes across Ireland.
At the height of the storm, there were over a half a million homes, farms, and businesses left without power across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Behind the scenes, KTL’s management and back-office staff coordinated emergency crew movements, plant and machinery deliveries, sourcing accommodation, and making last-minute location arrangements—often hour by hour—to keep everything moving.
KTL is proud of every team member who supported this storm damage effort-from boots on the ground to those ensuring logistics ran smoothly behind the scenes.
Their efforts helped restore power and peace of mind to ESB Networks customers across the country.
