At KTL, the strength of the company lies in its team. One such driving force is Jon, a SHEQ Coordinator who joined the team in February 2025. Though new to the company, Jon has already made an impact by bringing enthusiasm, experience and a passion for improvement.

Coming from a diverse background in warehousing, logistics, and most recently as a health and safety advisor for a MEWP hire and contract lifting company, Jon saw the opportunity at KTL as a valuable career move—even as a temporary contract to cover maternity leave. "It’s all good experience and I’m enjoying working at KTL!" he says with a smile.

As a SHEQ Coordinator, Jon plays an important role in supporting the Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) team. His day-to-day involves everything from compiling statistics and reports to updating key policies, risk assessments, and procedures. "I provide general support to the SHEQ team, including stats and reporting, helping maintain the integrated management system, sending out communications and bulletins, and helping to implement improvements within the SHEQ department and the wider business," Jon explains.

But his contributions don’t stop there. Drawing from his experience as a warehouse manager, Jon has extended his expertise to KTL’s warehouse teams in both Ireland and the UK, conducting health and safety audits and ensuring regulatory compliance. He’s also spearheaded several initiatives, including the implementation of a new RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement) template and the development of a supplier scorecard to evaluate performance and compliance.

These efforts show his commitment to his role. Jon recently spent time visiting project sites to better understand the daily operations and challenges of on-site teams. "It’s important to see how the operatives work day to day. It helps ground everything we do in the SHEQ department in real-world context," he reflects.

When asked what he enjoys most about working at KTL, Jon is quick to highlight the balance and culture. "The work-life balance at KTL is really good, there’s a lot of flexibility. Despite being remote, there’s still a great sense of teamwork and collaboration within the company," he shares.

He also values the learning curve, noting that he's enjoying "the challenge of learning a new industry and getting to grips with the different types of work we do at KTL."

What sets KTL apart for Jon is the company’s deep-rooted commitment to its people. "KTL really cares about its employees and their health, safety, and wellbeing, with these always in the forefront as number one priority," he says.

With a variety of benefit schemes and wellbeing initiatives, Jon feels that KTL’s culture promotes both personal and professional growth. "Even though I’ve not been with the company for very long, KTL genuinely cares about developing and investing in its employees," he adds.

Outside of work, Jon’s interests are as varied and dynamic as his career path. "I’m really into anything to do with cars!" he says, mentioning the classic Mini he's currently restoring—albeit slowly. He also enjoys video games, technology, and, for a change of pace, a bit of gardening.

As Jon continues to contribute to KTL’s mission of safety and service for its clients, his story stands as the value of experience, adaptability, with a motivation to make a difference.
