EE partners with KTL to extend 4G coverage to rural areas across the UK

EE under the Shared Rural Network (SRN) program partners with KTL to extend 4G coverage to 90% of the UK geography by 2025.

KTL’s role on this project involves delivering an end-to-end turnkey solution covering acquisition, planning, and design, right through to build, service management, and professional services.

Ioannis Arvanitakis, KTL’s Project Director said, “KTL has allocated a dedicated team with a mix of highly talented and experienced resources to this project. The design team is also fully compliant with UK legislation and Construction Design and Management (CDM) legislation.”

“We have a strong partnership with the EE team with excellent communication from both sides. There is an aggressive but achievable program of work that is aligned with EE’s targets.”

Although this project is still in progress, KTL has managed to achieve the following:

· The 200th survey was done in January 2022

· The 100th site was assessed in February 2022

· The 100th site build was completed in March 2022

· The 150th design was approved in April 2022

“EE’s target for 4G rural connectivity is expected to be achieved within the timeline. There is a current high rate of right-first-time on designs, installation and commissioning, and site acceptance,” said Arvanitakis.

Jake Gerrard, Delivery Manager Mobile Deployment Networks EE said, “It’s a pleasure working with Ioannis and the team, they clearly demonstrate their capabilities to deliver an ADC solution for EE and provide an unrivalled level of feedback and reporting on SRN, despite increasing pressures on targets.”

When asked about his experience working on this project, Arvanitakis is grateful for the opportunity and enjoys working closely with both the EE and KTL teams facilitating communications to help resolve challenges while being fully focused on achieving delivery targets.
