Shane Kiernan

Senior Project Manager
“I started off as a coordinator then progressed to project engineer, project manager and I’m currently a senior project manager.”

Tell us about yourself?

I’m from Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford, Ireland. Edgeworthstown, is the hometown of the 18th/19th-century writer Maria Edgeworth and of course my beloved Mostrim GAA.

What did you study?

I’m with KTL almost eight years, I joined in 2014. Thankfully I’ve enjoyed great career progression over my tenure – I started off as a coordinator then progressed to project engineer, project manager and I’m currently a senior project manager.

Could you describe your journey with KTL?

The journey so far has been ‘challenging but rewarding’. I’m always learning something new. Telecoms is fast paced so learning and adapting quickly is vital. I’m always planning for worst-case-scenario. I’ve learned never assume anything.

How would you describe the KTL culture?

KTL supports projects, teams, and individual efforts. Although we all work on different projects, we are all on one team. There is always someone available to offer a hand.

What do you enjoy most about working at KTL?

Although I work on UK Projects, I do so remotely, which I enjoy. There is wide variety to my role, and I’m impressed how KTL supports career progression.
