Philip Hanna

Electrical Project Supervisor

“I feel my experience and knowledge in telecoms has grown immensely since I started here and I’m still keen to learn new things in an ever-changing industry.”

What got you interested in the telecommunications industry? I’m from Dublin and am a qualified electrician, but I became interested in telecoms while working for a communications company ahead of the Winter Olympics in Canada in 2010.

When did you come to work at KTL? I was hired as an instrumentation and control engineer as part of an internship scheme. Work was scarce in Ireland because of the global financial crisis, so I was grateful for the opportunity and it led to work experience that set me up for a career in the industry.

What is your role now? I’m currently an electrical project supervisor and I am responsible for ensuring quality standards are met on a range of projects. As KTL is a registered electrical contractor, I am responsible for all matters relating to registration, ensuring our electricians are certified, and maintaining safety standards relating to the range of electrical work undertaken by the business.

What are the best bits about working for KTL? I feel my experience and knowledge in telecoms has grown immensely since I started here and I’m still keen to learn new things in an ever-changing industry. I’ve enjoyed working on different projects, learning new skills, meeting new people, and seeing how the network works. There is a wealth of experience here and always someone to help out if you’re stuck.
