Project Overview

Gaeltec-KTL was the principle contractor for the delivery of the Electrical Balance of Plant project.

Project Details

The project involved all elements of the Electrical Balance of Plant (EBoP).

These included:

  • Design and construction of 132Kv / 33Kv substation (civil & electrical)
  • Design and installation of 33Kv cabling network throughout the wind farm
  • 93km of MV cabling was designed and installed in a 100% ducted solution
  • Cable size ranged from 95sq up to 630mmsq AL
  • Includes jointing and testing as required by client specifications
  • Project included liaising with local authorities in relation to road closures and traffic management, together with installation of same
  • Installation of light, heat, power and security to sub-station building including external floodlighting system
  • The construction of visibility splays at wind farm entry points on the northern end of the site

This element of works involved liaising with:

  • Local roads authorities in relation to road closure and design approval
  • Local services - to relocate overhead and underground services (telco and power)


The Fullabrook Wind Farm project was short listed for the Renewable UK Energy Awards "Large Project" 2012.
